Cadillac Seville
Cadillac made its smallest sedan the most expensive one, then used electronic fuel injection to give it smooth starts and clean manners.

More than a set of wheels.
Cadillac introduced the Seville in spring 1975 as an early 1976 model. The company called it international-size because it was shorter and narrower than its full-size sedans and aimed at buyers considering imported luxury cars. Yet it was not a stripped-down Cadillac: climate control, power features, stereo and steel-belted radial tires were standard, and its price sat above Cadillac's larger sedans.
Look a little closer.
The Seville was smaller than other Cadillacs but became the division's highest-priced regular sedan when it arrived.

A 1976 model that arrived in 1975
Cadillac released the Seville in spring 1975 as an early 1976 model. The two dates describe calendar time and model year, not two different generations. GM's later design history calls it an all-new range-topping model for 1976.

The Bendix system used an injector for each intake port and an electronic control unit beneath the passenger seat. Precise metering helped with cold starts, hesitation and run-on problems that could trouble carbureted cars. The 180-hp figure is SAE net; simulated acceleration estimates from later databases are not used as road-test facts here.
