Honda Wave 100

Honda's affordable Thai Wave 100 paired a 97.1 cc four-stroke single with four foot-selected gears and an automatic clutch, but its 2004 suffix determines whether details such as front disc and electric start apply.

A place in vehicle history

More than a set of wheels.

Honda says the Wave 100 launched in Thailand in 2002 as a lower-priced companion to the Wave 110 during intense competition from low-cost copy bikes, and became an explosive hit. By March 2004 Thai Honda had produced ten million motorcycles and completed its domestic move to four-stroke production. This profile preserves the NF100 family identity while bounding technical data to a documented Wave 100S-type setup.

Look a little closer.

Its easy clutch did not remove the gears—the rider still chose all four with a foot pedal.

An underbone is not quite a scooter

The Wave's leg shields look scooter-like, but a chain and four-ratio gearbox still drive the rear wheel. The automatic clutch removes the hand lever, not the gears. Large 17-inch wheels also roll into road holes at a gentler angle than many small scooter wheels.

The suffix matters more than the badge

Wave 100 is a family name. Front disc, electric starter and other equipment can change with suffix and market. A Thai 2004 brochure or manual suffix table is still needed before presenting every 100S detail as universal.
