BYD Seagull Flying Edition
The Seagull packed a useful four-seat electric car into less than 3.8 meters. The top launch version carried the bigger Blade Battery, so its official Chinese test-cycle range reached 405 km without making the city-friendly body any larger.

More than a set of wheels.
BYD unveiled the Seagull at Auto Shanghai on April 18, 2023 and launched it in China eight days later. The Flying Edition topped the three-car range at RMB 89,800. It shared the e-Platform 3.0 body and 55 kW front motor with the lower trims but used a 38.88 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate Blade Battery for the longer 405 km CLTC rating.
Look a little closer.
Its dashboard screen can rotate between landscape and portrait orientation, like a giant tablet that turns to suit the job.

Two battery sizes, one small body
All three Chinese launch trims used the same basic five-door body and 55 kW motor. The lower cars paired a 30.08 kWh battery with a 305 km CLTC rating. The Flying Edition stepped up to 38.88 kWh and 405 km CLTC, so its extra range came from stored energy rather than a larger car or stronger motor.

The 405 km number comes from China's CLTC laboratory cycle, not a promise that every trip will cover 405 km. Speed, weather, hills, cabin heating and driving style can change real range. Keeping the test cycle beside the number makes comparison honest, especially because export Seagulls may quote NEDC or other cycles.

BYD presented the Seagull as an Ocean-series model for a wider market, below the Dolphin. Its RMB 89,800 Flying Edition price was the highest of the three launch trims but still kept the entire range below RMB 100,000. This profile preserves that original China launch context rather than substituting a later Honor or Intelligent Driving Edition.
