A place in vehicle history

More than a set of wheels.

The original Viper was a deliberately simple sports car built around an unusually large engine. Its long nose, wide body, and open cockpit made it instantly recognizable. The first RT/10 helped bring the classic American roadster idea into the 1990s.

Look a little closer.

Count the cylinders: this V10 has two more than a V8 and six more than an inline-four.

Photos show an example of the model or generation. The pictured vehicle’s year, equipment, or modifications can differ from the specification described here.

Inside the first RT/10

The 1992 test car had white-faced gauges, a gray dashboard and leather-faced bucket seats. Its pedals were offset left to make room for the engine. Side exhausts ran through the sills, which carried heat warnings. Outside door handles and roll-up windows were absent. Later interiors and custom steering wheels in the gallery are labeled separately.
