Ford Fiesta 1.4 Ghia

The 2002 Fiesta grew taller and roomier, with seats that placed passengers more upright. This five-door Ghia used an 80 PS 1.4-litre petrol engine and a five-speed manual, balancing city-car size with the richer equipment of Ford's Ghia trim.

A place in vehicle history

More than a set of wheels.

Ford previewed the new generation at the 2001 Frankfurt show and launched the five-door in Europe in May 2002, followed by the three-door in August. The new body had a 2,486 mm wheelbase and a more upright cabin. This packet fixes the identity to the five-door manual Ghia; semi-automatic Durashift EST and diesel variants are separate powertrains.

Look a little closer.

The generation arrived as a five-door first; Ford's historical timeline says the three-door followed three months later.

Photos show an example of the model or generation. The pictured vehicle’s year, equipment, or modifications can differ from the specification described here.

A taller cabin changes more than the silhouette

Raising the seating position can make it easier to enter the car and see out, while a longer wheelbase creates more room between the axles. Ford used those packaging changes to make the small Fiesta feel more like a larger family car.

Keep the gearboxes separate

The 1.4 Ghia could be catalogued with a normal five-speed manual or Durashift EST automated manual in some markets. EST moved the clutch and gears with actuators; it was not the same driving system as this profile's clutch-pedal five-speed.
