A place in vehicle history

More than a set of wheels.

Škoda began pre-series Felicia production at Vrchlabí in September 1994, started the Mladá Boleslav line on 17 October and presented three cars on Prague's Charles Bridge nine days later. The Felicia was not a completely unrelated clean-sheet car: engineers comprehensively reworked the Favorit with 1,187 newly developed components, a stiffer and roomier body and access to Volkswagen Group engines and equipment. This profile is the original five-door 1.3 base-power car, before the 1998 facelift.

Look a little closer.

Škoda introduced three public-launch cars painted red, white and blue and christened them with water from the Vltava River on Charles Bridge.

Evolution measured in components

The Felicia kept roots in the Favorit but used 1,187 newly developed parts. It became 40 mm longer and 15 mm wider, while the boot grew by 21 litres to 272 litres—specific changes that made the redesign more than a new grille.

Safety and comfort arrived in stages

Volkswagen Group cooperation later brought equipment such as ABS, airbags, power steering and air conditioning. These were not all universal 1994 base-car features, so the profile separates model-family availability from launch-standard equipment.
