A place in vehicle history

More than a set of wheels.

Clio III arrived in 2005, with more space than its predecessor. This profile identifies the French Confort Expression five-door with the 1.6-litre petrol engine and manual transmission. German and Austrian launch information explains shared engineering, but their prices and trim equipment are not substituted for the French specification.

Look a little closer.

Renault used different front-seat anti-submarining arrangements in the three-door and five-door bodies.

Photos show an example of the model or generation. The pictured vehicle’s year, equipment, or modifications can differ from the specification described here.

Why the number of doors matters

Renault’s launch safety release describes a second lap-belt pretensioner in the five-door. The three-door instead uses an airbag beneath the seat cushion, preserving access to the back seats. Both address the risk of sliding under the belt, but the physical solutions differ.

Keep the market labels attached

The French catalogue calls this engine 110 ch and lists 82 kW. Austrian launch publicity calls the 1.6 16V 112 PS and identifies its manual as a five-speed. These are retained as source-specific labels, not presented as two different engines or exact mathematical conversions.
