Honda Civic LX sedan

Honda's redesigned eighth-generation Civic reached the United States for the 2006 model year. This page follows one precise middle-trim configuration: the LX four-door sedan with the 1.8-litre engine and standard five-speed manual.

Research pending

A matching completed auction sale has not been verified for this exact year, body, trim, engine, transmission and market.

Joyride shows this gap instead of substituting an asking price, unsold bid or mismatched special vehicle.

A place in vehicle history

More than a set of wheels.

The LX sat between the simpler DX and more richly equipped EX. It brought useful everyday equipment such as air conditioning, cruise control, remote entry and a four-speaker CD system while keeping the sedan's compact footprint and five-seat cabin. Honda also offered a five-speed automatic, but that transmission is not mixed into this page.

Look a little closer.

The cover is IFCAR's public-domain photograph of a 2006 Honda Civic LX sedan in the United States. It shows the correct year, market, body and trim exterior, but an outside view cannot prove the hidden five-speed transmission, engine condition or factory option list.

Photos show an example of the model or generation. The pictured vehicle’s year, equipment, or modifications can differ from the specification described here.

Efficiency without shrinking the engine

Honda described the 1.8-litre i-VTEC engine as combining performance comparable to a larger 2.0-litre with reduced pumping losses during light-load cruising. In simple terms, the engine can breathe with less wasted effort when the car is not accelerating hard, then switch valve operation when more response is needed.

A dashboard arranged in two levels

Honda used eye-tracking studies while arranging the two-tier instrument panel. The digital speed display sits high and close to the driver's view of the road, while the tachometer and other information sit below it. This was part of the eighth-generation redesign, not merely an LX accessory package.
