More than a set of wheels.
Renault launched the Kwid in New Delhi on 24 September 2015, with India becoming the car's first global market. Renault said it was designed and developed globally with substantial Indian work and claimed 98 percent localization at launch. RxE sat one step above Standard in the four-grade launch range. This page keeps mechanical facts tied to the shared 0.8 launch range and does not give RxE the touchscreen or other higher-grade equipment without trim-specific proof.
Look a little closer.
The launch Kwid was only 3.679 metres long, yet Renault quoted a 300-litre luggage compartment and 180 mm of ground clearance.

Efficiency through low mass
The 0.8-litre engine's 54 PS sounds modest by itself, but the quoted 660 kg curb mass changes the picture: each unit of power has less car to move. Low mass, a five-speed manual and a three-cylinder engine help explain Renault's 25.17 km/L approval-cycle claim, although real use depends on traffic, load, road and driving style. The honest story is clever lightness and economy, not exaggerated speed.

The Kwid was only 3.679 metres long, yet its 2.422-metre wheelbase and 300-litre luggage claim show how much of that length was devoted to occupants and cargo. Its 180 mm ground clearance addressed uneven-road usability. Those measurements explain the launch concept better than SUV-like styling alone: compact city dimensions paired with practical clearance and storage for Indian conditions.
