More than a set of wheels.
Citroën revealed the production Ami in February 2020, only a year after showing the Ami One concept. French online orders opened on May 11 and the first deliveries were planned for June. Its legal identity matters: this is a light quadricycle capped at 45 km/h, not a full-size car.
Look a little closer.
The two side doors use the same basic panel, but the driver door is rear-hinged while the passenger door is front-hinged.

A vehicle category changed the whole design brief
French light-quadricycle rules let the Ami be driven from age 14 by someone with the required road-safety certificate. That limited top speed and mass, but it also let Citroën focus on weather protection, simple controls and extremely compact parking rather than motorway performance.

Ami's body repeats parts front-to-rear and side-to-side. Its identical door shells and repeated corner pieces simplified manufacturing and made the cube-like machine look deliberately playful. Large glass areas and a panoramic roof also make the tiny two-seat cabin feel less cramped.
