A place in vehicle history

More than a set of wheels.

Buick unveiled the Wildcat EV in Detroit on June 1, 2022 as a vision of its next design direction. The silver physical concept paired a forward-leaning face and new horizontal tri-shield emblem with a wraparound windshield, fast roof and four-seat cabin. Buick did not publish battery capacity, motor count, output, range, charging performance or a production commitment.

Look a little closer.

Its proposed Zen Mode could react to an elevated driver heart rate by dimming the cabin lights, releasing an aromatherapy scent and activating seat massage.

The concept’s real output was a design system

Wildcat EV did not need a published horsepower figure to affect Buick’s range. Its forward-leaning nose, split lighting and body-mounted emblem became a vocabulary that production vehicles could translate into different proportions. The 2023 Envista was the first production Buick described as fully incorporating that language, not a production version of the coupe.

A familiar name frames an unfamiliar Buick

The Wildcat name connects this EV to a long sequence of Buick show cars, yet the 2022 artifact is not a continuation of any one earlier chassis. Its 2+2 cabin, sensory Zen Mode and charge-status glass belong to a new design exercise and should not be merged with the 1985 mid-engine Wildcat.
