More than a set of wheels.
Audi showed the TT concept in 1995 and put the coupé into series production in 1998. This page follows the top launch-era European 1.8 T quattro with 165 kW and a six-speed manual gearbox. Ingolstadt built the bodies, then sent them by rail to Győr in Hungary for painting and final assembly. Later Type 8N cars received aerodynamic and chassis changes, so their details should not automatically be applied to this launch specification.
Look a little closer.
The circle appears again and again—from the roofline and wheel arches to the fuel cap and cabin switches—making the whole car feel like one drawing.

A concept translated into production
The production TT stayed unusually close to the 1995 show car. Audi's design history credits the disciplined geometric theme for helping the car remain recognizable decades later, while the shared A3 platform made the dramatic shape practical to manufacture.

Each cylinder has three inlet valves and two exhaust valves. The turbocharger, intercoolers and engine management work together to make 225 PS from 1.8 litres, while the quattro system helps the tyres use that power on the road.
