Research pending

A matching completed auction sale has not been verified for this exact year, body, trim, engine, transmission and market.

Joyride shows this gap instead of substituting an asking price, unsold bid or mismatched special vehicle.

A place in vehicle history

More than a set of wheels.

The BX was unveiled beneath the Eiffel Tower on 23 September 1982. Sales began with the Paris show a week later. Its Bertone shape, designed by Marcello Gandini, gave a practical five-door body an unusually crisp outline.

Look a little closer.

The RS shared its launch engine with the TRS; those letters did not mean identical equipment.

Photos show an example of the model or generation. The pictured vehicle’s year, equipment, or modifications can differ from the specification described here.

RS is not shorthand for TRS

The brochure separates the trims. Front head restraints were accessories on the RS but standard on the TRS; front electric windows were optional on the RS. Keeping those columns apart prevents a well-equipped surviving car from rewriting the launch specification.

A conspicuous shape for everyday work

Gandini’s angular outline framed a conventional family-car brief: five doors, front-wheel drive and a transverse engine. Citroën retained hydropneumatic suspension, so the new visual language did not mean abandoning the company’s distinctive engineering direction.
