A place in vehicle history

More than a set of wheels.

The FK8 Type R was developed with the tenth-generation Civic hatchback and built at Honda's Swindon plant for worldwide export. It retained a turbocharged two-litre engine and manual gearbox, but gained a lighter, stiffer shell, multi-link rear suspension, rev matching and a new Comfort drive mode. This profile uses the European 320 PS rating and keeps Honda's Nürburgring result attached to its development-car and test-condition qualifications.

Look a little closer.

Honda gave the FK8 three personalities: Comfort softens the car for ordinary roads, Sport is the default and +R sharpens it for track driving.

A record with careful conditions

Honda's 7:43.8 Nürburgring lap was set by a development car whose technical specification represented the final production car. Honda also recorded a dry track and optimum ambient temperature, so the result should not be shortened into an unqualified showroom-car race result.

Aerodynamics made to work, not just look dramatic

The smoother underbody, front air curtain, roof vortex generators and lightweight rear wing were engineered as a package. Honda described the result as a balance between lift and drag, aiming for stability without treating the wing as decoration.
