A place in vehicle history

More than a set of wheels.

Honda unveiled the e Prototype in Geneva on March 5, 2019 as the near-production follow-up to its 2017 Urban EV Concept. It previewed Honda's first production battery-electric car for Europe. This page describes the show prototype, not the later production Honda e, so motor power, battery capacity and final dimensions remain honestly unpublished here.

Look a little closer.

Its charging socket sat in the middle of the bonnet, so a driver could reach it easily from either side of the car.

A prototype that was almost a production car

Honda said its designers and engineers considered the Geneva car about 95% complete. It kept the clean face of the Urban EV Concept but added practical five-door packaging, pop-out handles and compact cameras in place of ordinary side mirrors.

Built around an electric platform

The dedicated EV structure used a relatively long wheelbase, wide track and short overhangs for cabin space and city manoeuvrability. Inside, a flat floor and wide digital display made the little car feel more like a lounge than a traditional dashboard-and-tunnel cabin.
