Isuzu VehiCROSS 3.2

A 1993 motor-show idea made real: the compact VehiCROSS wrapped a muscular 3.2-liter V6 and full-time four-wheel drive in one of the 1990s' boldest SUV shapes.

A matching completed auction sale has not been verified for this exact year, body, trim, engine, transmission and market.

A place in vehicle history

More than a set of wheels.

Isuzu showed the VehiCROSS idea at the 1993 Tokyo Motor Show and put a strikingly faithful production version on sale in Japan in April 1997. The launch model used the 3.2-liter 6VD1 V6, a four-speed automatic, and full-time four-wheel drive. Isuzu's own corporate chronology records the 1997 announcement, while contemporary-style Japanese catalog records preserve the exact E-UGS25DW specification.

Look a little closer.

Its production shape stayed remarkably close to the VehiCROSS concept shown at the 1993 Tokyo Motor Show.

Photos show an example of the model or generation. The pictured vehicle’s year, equipment, or modifications can differ from the specification described here.

From show stand to showroom

Many concept cars are softened before production, but the VehiCROSS kept the 1993 show's short body, high beltline, rounded roof, and exposed dark cladding. Toyota GAZOO's historical catalog explicitly connects the 1993 concept with the 1997 production launch, while Isuzu's company chronology confirms the production milestone.

The Japanese 3.2 is not the export 3.5

The launch identity depends on engine and market. Japanese E-UGS25DW catalog records specify the 3,165 cc 6VD1 at 215 PS, four-speed automatic, and full-time 4WD. Later export-market descriptions often feature a larger 3.5-liter V6, so those figures should not be substituted here.
