More than a set of wheels.
The 605 arrived in 1989 as Peugeot's new top-class saloon. The SV trim paired the launch body's quiet, understated shape with a 3.0-litre PRV V6 and generous comfort equipment. This is the 12-valve SV 3.0 with a manual gearbox, not the separate SV 24 whose four-valve heads, 200 PS and later collector story often dominate modern articles.
Look a little closer.
The 605's model number put it in Peugeot's long-running '6' flagship line, following cars such as the 601 and 604.
Photos show an example of the model or generation. The pictured vehicle’s year, equipment, or modifications can differ from the specification described here.
The 12-valve car is not an SV 24
Both cars use the PRV V6 family, but the launch SV 3.0 has two valves per cylinder and about 170 ch. The SV 24 adds four valves per cylinder, four camshafts, ACAV variable intake hardware and 200 CV. Keeping those identities apart prevents a major but easy-to-make specification error.

The V6 sits transversely at the front and drives the front wheels, leaving the long 2.80-metre wheelbase for passenger space. The body's 4.72-metre length put the 605 firmly in European executive-car territory without using a separate rear-drive propeller shaft.
