A matching completed auction sale has not been verified for this exact year, body, trim, engine, transmission and market.
Joyride shows this gap instead of substituting an asking price, unsold bid or mismatched special vehicle.
More than a set of wheels.
Renault unveiled the first Twingo at the Paris Motor Show on October 5, 1992, gathering 2,240 firm reservations even though commercial launch was set for April 1993. Project director Yves Dubreil and designer Jean-Pierre Ploué shaped it as a one-box city car with a friendly 'frog' face. Renault deliberately launched a simple proposition: one version, one engine and one price, brightened by four strong body colors and an interior that could change shape.
Look a little closer.
The 1992 Paris show produced 2,240 firm reservations even though the Twingo's commercial launch was still months away.

A 1992 car that customers received in 1993
Twingo belongs to 1992 in design history because Renault revealed it at Paris that October. It belongs to 1993 in retail and production specifications because commercial launch came in April. Keeping both dates visible solves a common encyclopedia trap: an unveiling date and an on-sale date can both be correct without meaning the same thing.

Renault pushed the wheels toward the corners and made the roof a single rounded box, maximizing usable room inside a 3.43-metre footprint. The sliding rear bench let families choose passenger space or luggage space for each trip. Seats that folded toward bed-like layouts turned the cabin itself into the Twingo's signature piece of engineering.
