More than a set of wheels.
Škoda completed the first 1101 on 6 May 1946 after engineers had developed it secretly during the Second World War. Drivers nicknamed the two-door closed version Tudor from the English words “two-door.” Its light central-tube frame, independent suspension and hydraulic brakes helped it cope with roads far beyond Czechoslovakia. The wider family eventually reached 76 export countries, but this profile stays with the original 1946 1101 Tudor, not the visually revised 1102 introduced in 1948.
Look a little closer.
The 1101 cost 67,700 crowns without tyres—post-war shortages meant buyers needed a ration card and had to obtain the tyres separately.

A spine under many bodies
A central tube carried the mechanical loads, while all four wheels were independently suspended. Škoda could place two-door, four-door, convertible, roadster, van and estate bodies over the robust idea, but only the closed two-door is the exact Tudor body profiled here.

The later 1102 had altered bumpers and a plainer grille. Moving its gear lever from the floor to the steering column also freed front legroom. Those changes are why later 1102 photographs must not be silently labelled as a launch-year 1101.
