Toyota Crown Majesta 4000 V8 C Type

Toyota launched the first Crown Majesta in Japan in October 1991 as a new luxury model between the Crown and Celsior. This page follows the rear-wheel-drive 4000 V8 C Type, model E-UZS141-ATPZK, with the 1UZ-FE V8 and four-speed ECT-i automatic—not the C Type i-Four added in 1992.

A matching completed auction sale has not been verified for this exact year, body, trim, engine, transmission and market.

Joyride shows this gap instead of substituting an asking price, unsold bid or mismatched special vehicle.

A place in vehicle history

More than a set of wheels.

The Majesta carried the Crown name, but Toyota gave it a newly developed monocoque body instead of the full frame used by the related Crown hardtop. Its electronically controlled air suspension, front and rear anti-vibration subframes and 4.0-liter V8 aimed for quiet, stable progress. Toyota called it a four-door hardtop in launch material and a sedan in the lineage archive, so Joyride preserves both descriptions as a pillared-hardtop sedan rather than erasing either source taxonomy.

Look a little closer.

This 1991 C Type could combine air suspension with technology that sounded futuristic for its day, including an available head-up display and GPS navigation. Similar badges can hide big differences, though: the four-wheel-drive C Type i-Four did not arrive until October 1992.

A Crown name on a different structure

Toyota's lineage history says the Majesta was completely different from the contemporary Crown in platform and body. Its fully monocoque shell replaced the Crown's perimeter frame, while front and rear anti-vibration subframes helped isolate noise and vibration. That makes the Majesta more than a luxury trim package on a standard Crown structure.

Launch C Type means rear-wheel drive

The October 1991 UZS141 C Type used rear-wheel drive. Toyota added the UZS143 C Type i-Four with ECmatic II full-time four-wheel drive one year later, so the shared C Type wording cannot be used to mix their drivetrains. Joyride keeps this page locked to the original UZS141 launch specification.
