A place in vehicle history

More than a set of wheels.

Perodua held the Myvi launch in Kuala Lumpur on 25 May 2005, with release following on 26 May. Perodua and Daihatsu jointly developed it from the Daihatsu Boon platform, then adapted the exterior and interior for Malaysia. The EZi sat at the top of the 1.3-litre launch range and combined a four-speed automatic with dual airbags and ABS. Its trim identity therefore cannot be read from a generic first-generation body alone.

Look a little closer.

The name Myvi was built from 'My Vehicle', 'My Vision' and 'Malaysian Vision'.

Photos show an example of the model or generation. The pictured vehicle’s year, equipment, or modifications can differ from the specification described here.

A global platform localized for Malaysia

The Myvi was related to the Daihatsu Boon, but Daihatsu's own release says its interior and exterior were adapted for Malaysia. Platform sharing therefore does not mean every Boon fact or image belongs on the Myvi. The launch story is a collaboration that used common engineering while giving Perodua's car a distinct Malaysian identity.

Why EZi is more than an engine label

EZi combined the 1.3-litre DVVT engine with a four-speed automatic and added dual airbags plus ABS. That makes trim accuracy important: a generic first-generation Myvi can illustrate the body only, because the safety equipment, gearbox and 1.3-litre specification are grade-specific claims. The version is defined by more than what can be seen outside.
