More than a set of wheels.
Renault revealed the production ZOE at Geneva in 2012 as a five-door electric car designed from the start around a battery. The early Q210 paired a 22 kWh pack with a 65 kW motor and the Chameleon charger, which could accept many different AC power levels through one socket. Its headline 210 km range was measured on the old NEDC laboratory cycle, so it is a historical comparison figure rather than a promise of everyday distance.
Look a little closer.
Its Q210 nickname is a useful clue: Q points to quick AC charging, while 210 echoes the original 210 km NEDC range rating.

One socket, many AC charging speeds
The Chameleon charger accepted AC supplies from 3 to 43 kW. Renault quoted about nine hours at the low end and 30 minutes for the fastest 80% charge. That unusually broad AC range was the Q210's defining feature, but actual time still depended on the charging point and starting battery level.

Renault grouped regenerative braking, a heat-pump climate system and special low-rolling-resistance Michelin tires under the Range OptimiZEr name. These systems reduce wasted energy; they do not enlarge the battery. The published 210 km figure remains the period NEDC result.
