Honda Civic EX-T sedan

Honda revealed its tenth-generation Civic sedan in calendar 2015, but this is the 2016 U.S. model-year EX-T: a four-door sedan with Honda's new 1.5-litre turbo engine, a CVT and front-wheel drive.

A place in vehicle history

More than a set of wheels.

EX-T was the first turbocharged step in the 2016 U.S. Civic sedan range. It combined the new 174-horsepower engine with everyday equipment such as heated front seats and dual-zone climate control, while 17-inch wheels, fog lamps and a small decklid spoiler helped distinguish it from the non-turbo EX.

Look a little closer.

The cover is Cutlass's CC0 photograph of a 2016 Civic EX-T sedan in Ohio. Its exterior supports the visible year, body and trim identity, but it cannot prove the hidden CVT, engine condition, chassis code or factory option list.

Photos show an example of the model or generation. The pictured vehicle’s year, equipment, or modifications can differ from the specification described here.

A 2015 arrival that belongs to model year 2016

Honda unveiled the tenth-generation sedan in September 2015 and sent it to U.S. dealers that November as a 2016 model. The distinction matters: Honda's 2015 model-year sedan was still the earlier generation and did not list an EX-T grade, so calendar year alone cannot identify this car correctly.

Turbo debut with a clear transmission boundary

For the 2016 U.S. sedan, Honda paired EX-T's 174-horsepower turbo engine with its CVT. The separate six-speed manual belonged to the 2.0-litre LX, so later turbo-and-manual Civic combinations must not be backdated onto this page.
