More than a set of wheels.
Subaru announced the all-new Japanese WRX S4 on 25 November 2021. This page selects the GT-H EX launch grade and exact 5BA-VBH identity rather than blending it with the manual WRX sold in other markets or Joyride's separate STI Sport R EX profile. GT-H EX used the same FA24 turbo engine and faster-reacting Subaru Performance Transmission while adding EyeSight X, an 11.6-inch centre display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel without borrowing the STI grade's electronic dampers or Drive Mode Select.
Look a little closer.
This exact GT-H EX was photographed in Japan on 24 December 2021, only a month after the launch announcement. The bonnet scoop, S4 display plate and GT-H wheels are visible, but the picture is not used to prove hidden powertrain hardware or equipment operation.
Photos show an example of the model or generation. The pictured vehicle’s year, equipment, or modifications can differ from the specification described here.
EX meant a broader assistance and display package
Subaru fitted its new-generation EyeSight to every launch WRX S4, but EyeSight X belonged only to the GT-H EX and STI Sport R EX. The EX package paired map-linked highway assistance with an 11.6-inch centre screen and 12.3-inch digital instrument panel. These systems support the driver under defined conditions; they do not make the car self-driving.

GT-H EX shared the 275 PS FA24 engine, full-time AWD and Subaru Performance Transmission with the STI grades, but Subaru reserved Drive Mode Select and electronically controlled dampers for STI Sport R and STI Sport R EX. Keeping that line visible shows how two cars with the same engine can have materially different chassis and control equipment.
