Reveal the auction result
Based on a completed sale at SellCa, an estimated value for this vehicle is ¥2,292,000.
Why this sale: Exact Japanese STI Sport R EX grade, 5BA-VBH type, 2.4-litre petrol engine, right-hand drive, five seats and 4WD. The profile is keyed to the November 2021 Japanese launch specification; the sale car was first registered in May 2022, a disclosed calendar/registration-year difference within the same initial VBH launch identity. 32,816 km, black exterior and 62 bids. SellCa records accident-repair history and R/B/B auction grades, with front inner-panel repair and other inspection notes. It lacked a new-car warranty booklet; the ¥12,320 recycling deposit was recorded separately.
SellCa displays the result as ¥2.292 million but does not identify the displayed figure as hammer, seller-net or buyer-all-in; fee treatment is therefore unknown. Taxes, registration, recycling deposit, transport and later repairs are excluded. One auction result is a reference, not an appraisal; condition, history, options, location and market timing can change value. Accepted as the newest verified same-grade, same-type completed sale found in this bounded review. The May 2022 first-registration date and repaired condition are material limits, so the result is not presented as a condition-adjusted value for every 2021-launch WRX S4.
More than a set of wheels.
Subaru announced this all-new Japanese WRX S4 on 25 November 2021. This page selects the highest EX launch grade and exact 5BA-VBH identity rather than blending it with the manual-transmission WRX sold in other markets. The STI Sport R EX combined the new FA24 turbo engine and faster-reacting Subaru Performance Transmission with Drive Mode Select, electronically controlled dampers and Subaru's EyeSight X assistance system.
Look a little closer.
The cover is an exact 5BA-VBH WRX S4 STI Sport R EX photographed in Japan one month after launch. Its blue front bodywork, bonnet scoop, S4 plate and STI badge are visible, but the image is not used to prove hidden drivetrain hardware, options or condition.

One switch could change several parts of the car
Drive Mode Select was fitted to the STI Sport R grades. Subaru says it coordinated the powertrain, AWD system, electronic dampers, steering, adaptive-cruise acceleration and even climate control. That made the mode change broader than a simple throttle-response button: it could move the car between a calmer ride and a sharper sports character.

The launch material describes a wide, low body and performance-focused cockpit, but also emphasizes five-seat practicality, a boot sized for a stroller or golf bag, an 11.6-inch centre display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The exact specification sheet confirms the useful four-door, five-seat package without confusing utility claims with performance test results.
