More than a set of wheels.
Audi presented the e-tron as its first fully electric series-production model at a San Francisco world premiere on 18 September 2018. It combined two electric motors, variable electric quattro drive, a large underfloor battery and up-to-150 kW DC charging in a practical five-seat SUV built in Brussels. This profile is the 2018 world-premiere specification; European customer deliveries did not begin until early 2019.
Look a little closer.
Its battery weighed about 700 kg, but placing it flat under the cabin gave the SUV an almost 50:50 axle-load balance and a lower centre of gravity.

Why the front motor sometimes waits
Audi's electric quattro normally leans on the rear motor because an unpowered asynchronous motor adds little electrical drag. The front motor can join within milliseconds when acceleration, slippery surfaces or cornering demand it, so all-wheel drive is available without running both motors equally all the time.

For ordinary slowing up to 0.3 g, the motors can act as generators and return energy to the battery. Harder stops blend in the hydraulic disc brakes. Audi said this covers well over 90 percent of everyday deceleration, but that is a system-use claim rather than a promise that 90 percent of motion energy is recovered.
