More than a set of wheels.
Dacia launched the Duster across Europe in spring 2010 and built it at Mioveni in Romania. This page follows the European petrol 4x4 with a 77 kW 1.6-litre engine and six-speed manual. The Duster was sold with both front- and four-wheel drive, and some regions used Renault badges, so specifications and photographs must be matched carefully. Its priorities were useful space, rough-road ability and low purchase cost rather than luxury.
Look a little closer.
Its very short first gear acts almost like a low-range ratio, helping the 4x4 crawl over difficult ground without a separate two-speed transfer case.
Photos show an example of the model or generation. The pictured vehicle’s year, equipment, or modifications can differ from the specification described here.
Useful angles for leaving the road
The launch 4x4 had a 30-degree approach angle, a 36-degree departure angle and a 23-degree breakover angle. Short overhangs help the bumpers and middle of the vehicle clear slopes and ridges.

Dacia combined the Logan platform family with a rear-drive module related to Nissan hardware and engines already used across the Renault group. Reusing proven components helped hold down development and purchase costs while still creating a distinct vehicle.
