A place in vehicle history

More than a set of wheels.

Renault presented the first 8 Gordini at the Paris Salon on October 1, 1964. Tuner Amédée Gordini transformed the family Renault 8 with a cross-flow cylinder head, twin carburettors, stronger brakes and revised suspension. This page covers the original 1,108 cc R1134 with four speeds, not the 1,255 cc five-speed 1300 introduced in 1966.

Look a little closer.

Its French racing-blue paint and white stripes became a uniform for generations of Renault competition cars.

Photos show an example of the model or generation. The pictured vehicle’s year, equipment, or modifications can differ from the specification described here.

The 1100 came before the 1300

The launch R1134 used 1,108 cc, 95 SAE horsepower and a four-speed gearbox. The better-known 1,255 cc five-speed R1135 arrived in 1966, so its figures are not mixed into this profile.
