1973 99
Sweden · two-door EMS · 1,985 cc electronic injection · four-speed manual

One name, many different cars. Choose a generation, then a documented year and version.
Saab treated the 99 as one developing model series rather than publishing modern generation names. The two delivered profiles keep their own year, body, market, injection, engine-output and transmission evidence: the 1973 Swedish EMS does not establish the later U.S. Turbo specification, and the Turbo does not rewrite the EMS.
This is a growing history. A generation listed here does not mean every year or trim is documented. Each profile identifies its engine, transmission and market; available driving models are labeled separately.
Choose two researched versions. Joyride compares only the documented year, generation and version on their own pages.
This activity uses documented Joyride profiles only. Missing years and trims stay missing rather than being filled with invented versions.
The long-running 99 gained new engines, bodies, safety equipment, injection systems and the production Turbo across its life. Missing years and materially different variants remain planned rather than being treated as copies of these two cars.
Linked years have at least one researched version. Other years remain to be researched; no year implies every trim is covered.
